Class 2028 Homecoming Volunteers

Greetings TJ Class of 2028 families!

Homecoming festivities begin the week of September 23, 2024. Homecoming is a huge event at TJ, and features several class competitions. Class of 2028 froshcomm needs support from parents and students in material ways beginning next week. Please consider donating/volunteering your time as detailed below. Indicate your availability and interest using this signupgenius.

  • FLOAT: Traditionally floats have been assembled off site at a willing parent’s home and then transported to TJ by 5:45 pm on September 27. Therefore, we hope a family  is able to host the float assembly at their home.  Froshcomm will provide materials for construction but not tools. This will require several meetings to build the float that will be at the host family’s discretion. Students need access to power tools and supervision, but parent volunteers are not allowed to help in the building of the float except to assist students in the use of power tools. Additional parent volunteers usually supervise the construction and transportation of the TJ float. Class of 2028 froshcomm is in the process of designing our float.

We are looking for:

  • Adult who has a truck that can haul a float that is 12 x 7 x 9 feet. ** this volunteer will need to pick up materials and transport them between TJ and the hosting family.
  • Adult who has a flatbed that can be converted into a 12 x 7 x 9 foot float.
  • Host family with a home that can shelter float in construction.
  • Parent volunteers to help monitor the construction process.

Other items that do not require volunteering buy may be of interest to you to help your child support their class during homecoming week:

  • CANNED FOOD: Students can start to bring in canned food after Labor Day. All donations for the Canned Food Sculpture can be dropped off in the Audlob before and after school.
  • CLASS T-SHIRTS: Froshcomm is in the process of designing of a class t-shirt for the T-shirt design contest. The t-shirts will be available for purchase. Purchases will be closed for ordering by Friday, September 13th. We anticipate the t-shirt purchase will be available for purchase by the end of the week of September 2nd. We are hoping to get more than the minimum order of 50 t-shirts.

Finally, you may notice your student dancing more than usual. Students may be using time during lunch to practice for MEX.

  • Musical Extravaganza (MEX): Students will begin rehearsing their eight-minute MEX performance starting next week during lunch. Please note that interested students will be using lunch time to rehearse for the performance of the Class of 2028 MEX on Friday, September 27th.

There are several other contests that students in the class of 2028 are aware of through froshcomm. Please follow us on IG @tjclassof2028. More information can be found at linktr.ee/tjhsst28.
